Return to port Vauban. Follow the port as far as the Fort Carré. It is roughly a 20 minute walk. If you do not wish to walk this far take the free shuttle, the
13 and 13 bis lines, that provide a connection between the Marine gateway and the Fort Carré. This military piece of art was erected in the 16th century to
defend the town and the French Kingdom. Antibes was once referred to as the “furthermost sentinel of the French Kingdom”.
When Vauban was carrying out his serious defence plans in Antibes he perfected the fortress. Property of the town of Antibes since 1997, the Fort Carré can be visited all year long.
Open all year round, closed on Mondays and public holidays: 1st January, 1st May, 1st November and 25th December

Change of opening times from 10/10/2010 to 31/03/2011 inclusive: open from Tuesday to Saturday and from 12pm to 4pm only.
Full rate: around 3 euros / Reduced rate: around 2 euros / Under 18s: free entry.
When you have completed your visit to the Fort Carré turn left on the avenue du 11 Novembre which will bring you to the Antibes train station, located on
your right approx. 500 metre from the Fort Carré.
