On this magnificent promenade with an incredible panorama over the sea, the Cap d’Antibes and the Alps you will come across a large white house with
brown shutters – Ardouin house. Clémentine-Hélène Dufau, a Symbolist painter, (a portrait painter famous
at the beginning of the 20th century for her decorative paintings) owned the house from 1926 to 1934. She added an extra floor to the house in order to create
a “studio-workshop-terrace”, It then became a workshop-studio that welcomed many artists such as the famous painter Nicolas de Staël who lived
there until his death in 1955.
Running parallel to the sea, the line of the ramparts follows the ancient parapet walk laid out in the plans drawn by Vauban. It is the oldest part of
Antibes, rich with 3000 years of history, according to the ancient Roman walls. Continuing on straight ahead you will come to the bastion de la Placette
that offers an exceptional panorama over the beautiful sandy beach of La Gravette, the Fort Carré and the Vauban port. Descend the steps from the
place Malespine and you are on the boulevard d’Aguillon.
