Visit of Monaco – Fort Antoine

Built between 1709 and 1713, we owe this Fort to Guiraud and Lozières
d’Astier. Here you will find a coat-of-arms bearing an inscription in Latin and the
Grimaldi blazon. Transformed into gardens by Prince Charles III, the fort was partly
destroyed in 1944 before being rebuilt in 1953 at the instigation of HSH Prince
Rainier III. Today, this ancient fortress is an open-air theatre.
